403 at the Aerospace Centre

This is the Bristol 403 car built and sectioned by Spencer Lane-Jones Ltd for display at the new Aerospace Centre in Filton that opened its doors on 17 Oct.   The car was acquired as a rotten, rolling shell and recovered from an outbuilding in Bristol at the start of the project.  Thanks to generous contributions of parts and funds from a wide variety of sources, including Bristol Cars Ltd, and many hundreds of hours work by SL-J Ltd, the car made it to the Museum on time and in budget.  It is possibly the only “open construction” example of this marque that exists anywhere in the world.  What makes this unusual display project so valuable is the significant involvement of young apprentices in the construction.  This fits one of the key roles of the Aerospace Centre (inspiring young engineers for the future) and we are proud to play a part in that ideal.
